Karen’s Adventures In Colour For October

Hello my fellow colour lovers. Yet another colour filled month it has been. This month I was on my colourful travels visiting relatives in Switzerland. Back in the UK it was off to Newcastle for a sell-out book event and a live radio interview. Back to London for more colourful events and my book coming out in a further four languages! So come with me as I take you through my colourful month for October…
Switzerland
I try to get to Switzerland a couple of times each year to visit relatives. They live in the country side and it’s my respite away from the hustle and bustle of city living. I absolutely love being in London but I find I need time away and the quiet, gentle pace of being in a Swiss village with family is perfect for me. There are always lots of colourful moments to chance upon like this rainbow which happens to be on the side of a house owned by a house painter and colourful flowers cascading from window boxes – driving up to this was a real wow moment.

BBC Radio Newcastle – colourful chat
No sooner was I back from Switzerland, I was on a train up to Newcastle for an early morning breakfast interview with BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Lisa Shaw. I’ve done well over 50 radio interviews and my favourite are definitely when I get to sit in front of the presenter. There is an instant connection that you can spark off each other and the conversation just flows. While I was waiting to go into the studio, they put me in the ‘green’ room which was actually red! It certainly kept me awake – there was no chance of dozing off….

The Little Book of Colour Book Event Newscastle
After the colourful chat on BBC Radio Newcastle, that evening it was onto my book event, organised by Forum Books, award winning independent bookshop in Corbridge and the Colour Collective UK at The Biscuit Factory for my conversation hosted by Susi Bellamy, artist and Colour Collective UK chair.
It was a fantastic event. We discussed how we can positively embrace colour and ways to bring it into our everyday life. The event and the books were a sell out. James from Forum Books told me afterwards it was unprecedented to sell so many books. I just loved meeting everyone at the book signing afterwards. It just goes to show the northeast love colour!

The Little Book of Colour comes out in a further four languages
I’m absolutely thrilled to see my book come out in four languages this month. They were Greek, Italian, French and Dutch. So if you would like to grab yourself a copy or as a gift for someone you know speaks any of these languages, you’ll find these on Amazon or at local book stores.

Bristol with Stacey from The Design Shepherd
Wrapping up the month I had a fabulous time in Bristol meeting up with the lovely Stacey Szyperek of the award winning blog, The Design Shepherd to do a day of filming where we discussed the power of colour.
Stacey picked Bristol as it was a great halfway point for us to travel to. We used the colourful studio of Studio Cotton UK to do the filming.
Stacey brought her hubby along to do the filming (thank your Artur!) which meant we were able to focus on chatting about colour. We discussed things like how it makes us feel, why we’re drawn to certain colours yet dislike others, how we can use colour in our clothes, our home, in our everyday life to help us create positive feelings and responses to support our everyday happiness. It’s always such a joy chatting with Stacey and as soon as the videos are out I’ll let you know. ⠀

Let’s Stay in Touch
So that’s a colourful wrap for October. There was so many more colourful moments this month like traveling in the colourful Kent countryside, doing a series of FACEBOOK LIVES for her Book group where I shared some of my do’s and don’ts when writing my book and how to take a book beyond just being a book and as an extension of your business. And I also gave a talk at the joyous Joy Jam Sessions run by my friend, Lynn Hord where I was invited to talk about How to Create a Movement – It was a reflection on my journey of how I got to where I am now sharing all my lessons learnt (the do’s and don’ts) along the way.
Thank you for joining me this month and I look forward to seeing you again for November’s colour filled issue.
